Jimmie Mack Cosby, 83, passed away April 24, 2017. The son of Stell Ray & Jewel Alene Cosby, Jimmie was born June 22, 1933 in Oil Center, Oklahoma. After graduating from Stratford High School, Jimmie began a career in civil service at Tinker Air Force Base and retired after 35 years of dedicated service. He was drafted in 1952 and honorably served his country in the United States Army as part of the 24th Infantry Division in Korea. On September 26, 1956, he married his sweetheart, Avis N. Bailey and shared sixty years of marriage. He was a wonderful father who took great pride in his children and grandchildren and was committed to the successful education of his entire family. He served as a deacon for many years at Southern Oaks Free Will Baptist Church and attended Crosspointe Church in Norman in his later years. Jimmie was a member of the Del City Masonic Lodge, 33rd degree mason (Scottish Rite).

Never short of a story, Jimmie was passionate in sharing as well as learning about the lives of others. He enjoyed cheering on the Oklahoma University Sooners from his season tickets in the front row of the north end zone for many years. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and supported those in the family that loved the Royals as well. He will be deeply missed.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carlon Cosby, daughter, Ramona Kay Cosby and grand daughter, Kelly Beth Cosby.

He leaves behind his loving wife Avis Cosby; daughter, Kathy L. Scherler and her husband, David; son, Jimmy Mark Cosby & his wife, Jimmie Marie; grandchildren: Kent Scherler, Kale Scherler, Clay Cosby, Krista Beth Kobe, and Rachel Kay Martin; great grandchildren: Anna-Claire Scherler, David Kent Scherler, IV, Logan Thomas Scherler, Edmund Samuel Martin, Henri Odile Martin, Jack Hugo Kobe.

He is survived by loving brothers and sisters: Pat Wood, Betty Wood, Donald Cosby, Roger Cosby, Frank Cosby and Kevin Cosby.
