Rebecca Ruth Dumbleton was born on September 25, 1949 to William L. and Eddie Ruth Richardson of Stillwater, Oklahoma. She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1967 and attended Oklahoma State University completing a degree in Elementary Education (1972). She married David Carl Everett Dumbleton in 1974. David and Becky had three sons together: Joshua Dumbleton of Raleigh, NC; Daniel Dumbleton of Moore; and Zachary Dumbleton of Midwest City. She is survived by her husband, David Dumbleton; her three sons Joshua, Daniel, and Zachary; and her mother Eddie Ruth Richardson (Claremore). Becky is also survived by two sisters, Marianne Timm (Oklahoma City) and Jeannine Steinbrook (Claremore), and one brother, Paul Richardson (Stillwater). Becky has a larger extended family that includes many nieces and nephews including: Matt and Audra George (Edmond); Matt and Jamie Hendrix(Edmond); Garrett and Alyssa Steinbrook (Claremore); Jerald and Haley Harrison (Edmond); Cory and Jordan Westbrook (Stillwater); and Greg, Jonathan, and Nicholas Timm (Houston, TX ). She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Bethany Dumbleton and one grandson, Elijah Torres (Midwest City.)
Becky spent 43 years of teaching as a Christian elementary school educator. She taught at Jefferson Heights, Grace Christian, and Christian Heritage Academies. Both she and David were highly active in the life and ministry of Southern Hills Baptist Church. She spent 30 years being involved in the overall Music Ministry of Southern Hills including servicing as Church Pianist, Coordinator for the Graded Children’s Choir Programs, handbell ringer in the Adult Handbell Choir, plus serving as a teacher in countless Sunday School and VBS classes. She was a devout Christian; devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister; and a dedicated educator who poured her life into her students and their families. As a church musician, she believed in the power of music and the Holy Spirit and how it could transform lives for the glory of Almighty God. She leaves behind a great legacy and heritage of faith, hope, love, family, and friends. She will be deeply missed.
