Obituary for Bob Dean Romine

Bob Dean Romine, 94, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Enid, was born October 14, 1923, in Breckenridge, OK, the son of Carl E. and Edna M. (Mauk) Romine. He completed this life on October 10, 2018, surrounded by his family. Bob was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be deeply missed.

Bob graduated as Salutatorian from Ames High School, excelled in many sports and played piano at Ames Baptist Church. He served his country during World War II and was at the Allied invasion of France at Utah Beach. After being honorably discharged as a three striped sergeant, he returned to Enid and began his career in accounting. He was partner at Romine and Thomas public accounting firm, from which he retired after more than thirty-five years.

Bob married the love of his life, Helen Ann Gales on June 16, 1949. They made their home in Enid where they were active members of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Bob and Helen took many memorable family vacations, including a fiftieth anniversary trip to Colorado Springs with all of their children and grandchildren. After retirement, Bob enjoyed gardening, volunteer work at the Horn of Plenty, and playing games with family and friends. They also spent years traveling across the country and Europe.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and by Helen, on August 28th of this year after being married 69 years. He is survived by his children, Gary and Liz Romine, of Wentzville, MO, Janis and Ted Jones of OKC, Elisa Norred of Tulsa, and Deann Romine of OKC; six grandchildren, eight-great grandchildren and his sister, Ruth Ann Hammond of Enid.

A funeral service to remember Bob will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel, and burial will follow at 2:00 PM at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma.
