Obituary for Cecil Raymond Meeks

Services to celebrate Cecil’s life will be Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 10 AM, at Spring Creek Assembly of God, 1600 E 15th St, Edmond, OK.

Cecil Raymond Meeks was born in Beaumont, Texas on December 17, 1960 to his parents, Norma Lee (Harvey) and Richard Lee Meeks. He passed away on December 27, 2018 in Amarillo, Texas. Cecil joined the OKC Fire Dept. in 1982 where he remained until his retirement in 2006. On June 6, 1986, Cecil married Carrie (Ritchey) Meeks and they shared many happy years together while raising their two children in a loving home. During his years on the OKC Fire Dept., Cecil served as a first responder to the bombing of the Murrah building in 1995 and upon earning the rank of Fire Chief over Special Operations, headed the rescue efforts which followed the 1999 F-5 tornado in Moore, OK. After the World Trade Center attacks in 2001, his unique skillset led to a training position with the US Dept. of Homeland Security. In addition, Cecil and his wife owned and operated Meeks Construction for more than 20 yrs. Cecil was a man of deep faith & devoted to the Lord & his family. For 25 years, he was an active member of Spring Creek Assembly of God in Edmond, OK. Cecil enjoyed golfing, fishing at Lake Texoma, & rooting for the OU Sooners. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and Papa.

Granddaughter, Callie Grace;
Siblings: Susie Crews and husband, Jon Crews, Linda Nelson and husband, John Nelson, Richard Meeks, Randall Meeks;
As well as a large extended family.
