Obituary for William Robison Spurlin

William (Bill) Spurlin passed from this life on Monday May 20, 2019.
Bill was born in Bulah, TX, the youngest of 7 children, and spent most of his early life in Casper, WY. He joined the National Guard at the age of 17, needing his parent’s permission to do so. After 2 years in the Guard, he joined the US Air Force, serving 4 years and traveling the world. The USAF took him to the base in Blytheville, AR where he met his future bride, Pattie, at the skating rink.
Bill and Pattie lived in Blytheville, raising their two children, Ron & Tracy, until Bill’s job relocated them to Yukon, OK in 1978. He worked for AT&T for over 30 years before retiring in 1999. During retirement he enjoyed his family and grandchildren, but later decided to return to work full time, overseeing the construction of Suds Car Wash in Edmond, and managing operations for several years. In most recent times, he enjoyed daily trips to Gold’s Gym where the staff were also his friends. He also enjoyed outings discussing classic cars and all things military with his brother in law Joe Rankin.
Bill and Pattie were married for 53 years before her passing in 2016. He was Dad to son Ron Spurlin of Phoenix, AZ and his wife Michelle Lynn, and to daughter Tracy Higgs of OKC. He was Poppa to granddaughter Jessica Higgs and fiancé Gabe Morales, grandson Jackson Higgs, and great-grandson Beckett Morales, all of OKC, and Uncle Bill to niece Tara Gurley, of Little Rock, AR. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Carl and Letha Ophelia (Redden) Spurlin, his 6 siblings, and sister in law, Russelyn Rankin.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday May 29, at 1PM at the Resurrection Cemetery Chapel, 7800 NW Expressway, OKC.
Family asks that donations be made to the Mercy Hospital Foundation in Bill’s name.
