Obituary for John I. Peddicord

Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary at South Lakes 4000 SW 119th Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

John Irvin Peddicord went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the age of 82. John was born on November 27, 1936 in Allegheny Township, Pennsylvania to Mary Peddicord. John had a sister, Louise Hazelett who preceded him in death. John was raised by his grandparents and worked at Farmhand Dairy in Indiana, Pennsylvania before joining the US Air Force in 1953. He was based at Lackland Air Force Base with dreams of becoming a pilot. However due to the demands of his family’s dairy farm, he was called home to work on the farm. In 1955, John married Rose Elizabeth Waltermire, who preceded him in death in 2008. John worked on oil and gas rigs before working at General Motors where he retired. John always enjoyed an occasion to dress up and to wear his favorite dress shoes. He enjoyed attending county and state fairs. In his younger days, John enjoyed going to amusement parks, and especially enjoyed riding roller coasters. He loved automobiles and engaging conversations about cars and how General Motors was the best of all. He enjoyed working in his yard and vegetable gardening as well as attending Lake Travis High School football games and watching his granddaughter cheer on Friday nights. A very hard worker, he was very mechanical and could fix most things from washer and dryer to lawn mowers to autos. He was a great provider even when times were tough by working two jobs. Several years after the loss of his first wife, Rose, John married Agnes Jones on December 6, 2011 in Canon Beach, Oregon. They shared 8 years of love and companionship and built a new home where they lived until his passing.
