Eileen May Putnam, 89, passed from this life Sunday September 15, 2019. She was born March 8, 1930 in Carthage, Missouri, the daughter of William Algernon and Rosa Lena Pearl (Winkler) Sutton. After graduating high school, Eileen went to Nurse Training School and worked as an LPN and was the 1st ER Nurse at Midwest City Hospital. She and Beryl Putnam were married January 31, 1950 and had two sons, Beryl “Buster” Putnam Jr. and William Putnam. Eileen’s love for the Lord was evident in every part of her life. She loved going to church and loved having her family with her to worship. She also enjoyed her Sunday school ladies, singing in the church choir and keeping MANY a choir directors in line where she earned the nickname “Sarge”! You could always find her helping in VBS and loved bringing kids from the neighborhood with her. Her family was her most prized possession. She loved her family with every part of her being. Until her dying day she was telling us how much she loved us. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 69 years, Beryl Putnam, her two sons; Beryl “Buster” Putnam Jr. and wife Mary; Bill Putnam and wife Teri; grandchildren, Nathan Putnam, Lori Frazee, Tim Putnam and wife Shevaun; great grandchildren, Deacon and Delaynie Frazee, Madeline, Alex, Jacob, and Claire Putnam; a host of nieces and nephews and numerous friends. She is preceded in death by her parents William and Lena Sutton; her brother William Sutton and her grandson in love Woody Frazee. Family and friends will gather on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at Southmoore Baptist Church to celebrate Eileen’s life. The family will be available to visit with friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at Vondel Smith Mortuary (S. Western).
