Obituary for Mary B. Cooksey

Viewing will be 4-8PM on Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home. Family will be present to greet friends from 6-8PM on Wednesday, October 30th. A funeral service to celebrate Mary's life will be 2:00 PM, Friday, November 1, 2019 at the South Colonial Chapel with burial at 3:30 PM at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, OK.

Mary Belle Cooksey, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019 at her home in Amber, Oklahoma at the age of 87. She was born on September 12, 1932 in Nicoma Park, Oklahoma and raised in Lexington, Oklahoma. The daughter of William T. Idlett and Lela E. (Farrow) Idlett, She was a resident of Oklahoma City and Amber, OK. In her early years, Mary enjoyed playing basketball, softball, cheer leading and hopscotch with her friends. She worked at the 77 café and helped her mother with her younger siblings. Mary married the love of her life Calvin Maurice on July 2nd, 1950, on Red Hill under the water tower in Purcell, OK. Mary had a passion for God and her family. She ran a daycare out of her home for 20 years. She enjoyed children whether they were her grand kids, great grand kids, great great grand kids or any other child. All children Loved her as well. She and her husband enjoyed singing and playing music together for over 20 years. Mary was someone you couldn’t help but love. She was always trying to take care of someone no matter what. Her daughter, Lareesea, will always remember her mother coming to lunch most days of High School to have lunch with her. She says her friends would race her to the car to be the first one with her mother. Her grandchildren will remember how loved she would make them feel and how she never let you leave without a hug, kiss and I Love You. She will be deeply missed each day.

Daughters, Vicki Cooksey and Mary Kay Doyle;

4 Brothers.

She leaves cherished memories with:

Grandchildren: Bobby “Scooter” and his wife, Brandy Doyle of OKC, Becky Doyle and partner Lee Giaudrone of Alex, OK, Calvin Callahan of Amber, OK, James and his wife Lissa Callahan of Amber, OK, Latisha Callahan of Amber, OK, and Bonnie and Kevin Waltrip of Englewood,CO;
18 great grandchildren;
16 great great grandchildren;
many other family members and close friends.
