Obituary for Patricia "Pat" Ann Carpenter

Patricia (Pat) Ann Carpenter was born on April 13, 1929 in Hoyt, Oklahoma to Clifton and Willie Ora Totty. Willie Ora passed away when Pat was 7 years old. Clifton then married Ruby Billington Hopkins who became a loving mother to her. Pat graduated from Hugo High School and worked at the Jordan Bus Company.

Pat met the love of her life, Don Carpenter, on a blind date. Her brother, Bob, had a date but didn’t have transportation. His friend Don had transportation but no date, so Bob asked Don if he wanted to double date with his sister, Pat. Don and Pat married in June of 1947. They were happily married 54 years until Don passed away in October of 2001. They raised 4 children in Oklahoma City, Donna, Jerry, Keith, and Kevin.

Pat worked for Dillard’s department stores and later as a secretary in the library at Grant High School for many years. Pat was a faithful member of Southern Hills Baptist Church where she served as a nursery worker and a library helper.
