Obituary for Kenneth Joe Morava
Viewing will be 4-8 PM Saturday and 12-8 PM Sunday with family present from 2-4 PM at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary South. A funeral service to celebrate Kenneth's life will be 2:00 PM Monday, February 3, 2020 at the South Colonial Chapel with burial following at the Czechoslovakian National Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Kenneth Joe Morava, 80, of Oklahoma City, passed away January 29, 2020. He was born August 1, 1939 in Oklahoma City to Elmer J. and Audrey M. Morava. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Kenneth married Pamela Ann Dayhuff on December 26, 1968 and they had three children – Kimberly, Stephanie and Jeffrey. Kenneth spent his career working and later retiring from Santa Fe Railroad. He loved his family, OU football, old cars and trucks, trains, listening to 50s music and classic country, talking about the old days and watching westerns and wrestling. Throughout his life, Kenneth spent many afternoons taking care of his gardens and the Czech Cemetery. He enjoyed woodworking and even built a playhouse that his children, grandchildren and others have enjoyed for nearly 50 years.
During his retirement years, he enjoyed taking day trips and family vacations to cabins and he always looked forward to going out for breakfast and coffee with a group of buddies as well as lunch meetings with his lodge group. He enjoyed hosting family dinners and gatherings at home, but he especially loved being a Dad and Grandpa and was lovingly called “PaPa Kenny Joe.”
Those preceding him in death include his parents; his wife, Pam, and his brothers, Richard and David.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Siobhan Morava; daughters and sons-in law, Stephanie and Brent Schoenecke and Kim and Hoyt Fleeting; grandchildren, Johanna “Joie” Pamela Morava; Rosie, Cyrus and Jessica Schoenecke, Hoyt Ivan Fleeting and Rennon and Aida Fleeting; his sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Jim Mitchell; sisters-in-law Carolyn Morava and Jeannie Morava; brother-in-law Dan Dayhuff and wife Pam; beloved nephew Michael Mitchell and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
