Obituary for Sue Carolyn Seay (Sutherland)
Sue Carolyn Seay was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on September 21, 1934, to Harold and Mary Sutherland and left this earth for heaven on June 18, 2020.
Sue met the love of her life, Herb, in Tulsa, Oklahoma and they were married on May 26, 1959. They were together for 58 years until Herb’s death in 2017.
Through the years Sue was a volunteer for Mobile Meals, as well as being a cook for the after school program at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a fantastic cook, so those kids were very lucky. She was a member of the Ruth Women’s Ministry Circle at Westminster, a member of the Revidere Book Review Club, and a member of the Soon-Aires Club, where she was a Past President from 1978 – 1980.
Sue was an avid gardener with a green thumb and enjoyed working in her yard. She could often be seen making her landscape a beautiful green space for all to enjoy. Sue was a proverbial “social butterfly” and never met a stranger. If she met you, she would know everything about you and your family within minutes.
Sue’s greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished the many trips and family reunions with all her family and friends around her, keeping up with everyone’s lives, and events, making sure she knew all that was going on. She loved her dog Maxx and her grand dog, Gretka.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gregory Randall Seay, and her husband Herbert L. Seay. She leaves behind her son Steve Seay and daughter in law Kathy Seay, grandson Jason Seay and his wife Nichole Seay, great grandchildren Jacob Seay and Faith Seay, and brother James Sutherland and his wife Peggy Sutherland.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 pm Sunday, June 21st at Vondel Smith funeral home located at 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 23 at 1:00 pm, also at Vondel Smith.
The family would like to thank the staff at Legend at Council Rd, as well as the staff at Valir Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care shown to Sue and her family. Special thanks, to Sharece, Lisa, DJ, and James, who made these past several months so much easier for Sue.
