Obituary for Weleeta Hilton

Weleeta was born in Oklahoma City on November 30, 1928 to Lorenzo and Kathryn (Britton) Chronister. Weleeta was raised in South Oklahoma City and graduated from Central High School in 1946. Shortly after high school she was at a social function in Norman at the Naval Base when she met a very special guy, Donald Hilton. The two hit it off and they were married that same year. Shortly after their marriage, Donald was deployed during WWII, and Weleeta eagerly awaited his return. The two started a family and were blessed with three children, Doneeta, Ronald and Della. Weleeta was a hard working mother and worked hard to help provide for her family. She was stricken with a number of medical issues over the years, but Weleeta was a survivor. She overcame many adversities in regards to her health throughout her lifetime, including a brain tumor and an accident causing trauma to both of her legs. She had her children and husband to care for and that helped her to pull through and persevere. Weleeta worked at First Presbyterian in Downtown OKC for over 10 years as a bookkeeper and she also worked at First Baptist Church of Newcastle as a bookkeeper. As Weleeta’s family branched out, she was able to become a grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed going to watch the grandkids play sports and spent a lot of time out on the sidelines with them. As mentioned, family was very important to Weleeta, and she loved getting together with family for dinners, especially during the holidays. During her most recent family outing she made her way into the swimming pool. Of course, she made sure not to get her hair wet. Weleeta also had a favorite furry family member, her dog Precious. In her spare time, Weleeta enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, and watching The Price Is Right and her favorite sports teams play. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals and was an avid Thunder fan as well. Weleeta was a member at Southern Hills Baptist church since 1993 and was very active up until her health began to decline in recent years. Weleeta will always be in our hearts. Although she is no longer with us, we will never forget her.
