Obituary for Jimmy Kent Ross

It is with great sadness that the family of Jimmy Kent Ross announce his passing on Sunday August 9th, 2020 in Oklahoma City. Kent was born September 4th, 1956 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Jimmy Ray Ross and Betty Jean Sevedge. He graduated from Lindsay High School in 1974 and attended Oklahoma State University. Kent’s early career started in the oil field and ultimately lead to work for the Oklahoma state auditor for 12 years. He married Ladonna Gale Garrison in 1979 having two sons, Ryan and Riley and living in Lindsay, Sayer, Tuttle and south Oklahoma City. In 1999 Kent opened the north Oklahoma City location for Al’s Bicycles serving various cycling enthusiasts and families from across the city for over twenty years. Kent developed relationships with his numerous regular customers and genuinely enjoyed the social aspects of small business ownership. Rarely did Kent take an unscheduled day off and nearly every afternoon he could be found at the shop working on custom bikes or visiting with patrons about cycling gear or the best local trails.

Kent is survived by his son Ryan Ross, wife Laura and daughter Isla Mae of south OKC, his son Riley Ross, wife Carmen and sons Garrison and Henri of north Oklahoma City. Kent’s sister Janie Ross Diaz and husband Walter of Crawford, Mississippi, and their children, Ashley Diaz, husband Nicolas Zeitlin and son Luca of Berkley, CA., and Derek Diaz also from Crawford. Kent is also survived by his uncles, Don Ross of Moore, Oklahoma, and Gary Ross of Purcell, Oklahoma as well as his aunt, Mrs. Jack B. Sevedge (Mary Ann) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and numerous cousins from across Oklahoma and various parts of the US.
He is preceded in death by his father Jimmy Ray Ross from Lindsay, Oklahoma, and his mother Betty Jean also of Lindsay. Kent will be interned near his parents at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay at 3 PM on Wednesday August 12th.
