Obituary for Kedre Kay Rost

Kedre Kay Rost was born June 2, 1960 in Oklahoma City the daughter of John Edward and Margo (Cruzan) Rost, Jr. She joined her parents in Heaven on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 in Oklahoma City at the age of 60. Kedre’s love for her family, friends, her Sooners and especially her furry sidekick Hershey, was a clear shining light seen by all.

Kedre spent her childhood in Warr Acres where her father was the former mayor and owned Rost Drug. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1978. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Marketing from OU. While at OU, she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, President’s Leadership Class and a Lambda Chi Alpha Little Sis. She furthered her education by earning a master’s degree from Oklahoma City University.

She is survived by her sister, Jane Rost Kirby and her husband Judge Richard Kirby of OKC and two brothers, Richard Colbert and wife Jeannie of Edmond, and William Grubb and wife Connie of Yukon. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews that affectionately called her “Aunt ReRe”- Christopher Rost Kirby, Courtney Kaye Kirby and husband Joseph Brueggen, Matthew Colbert, Brandon Colbert, Kim Grubb, Cimarron Grubb and wife Whitney, Lucy Colbert and Austin Colbert. Her grandnieces and nephews are Briley Colbert, Reed Colbert, Abby Grubb and Sydney Grubb. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Colbert.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Vondel Smith Mortuary North, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel with interment in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
