I'm sad to learn that Mr. Imes died at a young age (my age now!). A friend sent me a link to this notice, shortly after publishing a blog today about a lesson he taught us in h.s. trig class at Midwest City H.S. ... Never assume anything! Blog address: www.burkeschannelingbombeck.wordpress.com ... He was great. I'm sorry for your loss, which I'm sure you still feel. Incidentally, I lost my brother in July 2015 to a sudden heart attack. He was only 55. He wasn't a student, so didn't get to enjoy Mr. Imes' class!

"Chalky" and I grew up together, our families attending the Presbyterian Church. It was a singular joy to see Charles again at our high school reunion a year ago, and I sat next to him and visited during our last evening. Knowing Charles was a blessing, and memories of our youth will stay with me always. Love that smile!!!

Rema, I am so sorry that I did not know about Charles passing in time to attend his funeral. Charles was a wonderful person and friend to Gene and I. We have all been through so much together. I don't know if you knew that Gene passed away last year on Nov. 22, 2010 so I know this is a terrible loss for you and I share your grief. Story shared: Trig class in 1976

I took Mr. Imes's classes for three years at Midwest City High School. He was the type of teacher that you would want to find out what he would be teaching the next year. I made sure to get into his class each year. He was a tough teacher but he was also very compassionate when it came to grading the test. My senior year, I think I was the only girl in his Trig class. We learned but we also had some good laughs in his class. One day, one of the guys in the class was passing around a picture of a playgirl bunny waitress. It just so happen that the girl in the picture looked similar to me. I was so embarrassed that all I wanted to do was get my hands on that picture and rip it up. Of course, the guys in the class were having a good laugh. Mr. Imes wanted to know what all the laughter was about. Someone passed the picture to Mr. Imes. I know I must have turned four shades of red! Mr. Imes looked at the picture and just smiled at me. After class, he handed the picture to me. For some reason I kept that picture. Maybe to remind me of the kind hearted teacher that always made me feel special!! I truly hope Mr. Imes knew of the impact that he had on his students at Midwest City High School.

Rema: I wish to extend my condolences to you because of the passing of Charles. Although we didn't talk often in the recent years, Charles was an inspiration to me. He stepped in to help with our Church Planting Project when we were with the Free Methodists. His forceful presentation of the Scriptures helped me to sort out the Theological tangles involving God & man. I am eternally greatful for his influence. Over the years, our "account reviews" were, for the most part, discussions on Theology. Thank you for receiving me last spring. It was GOOD to see Charles again. Like you, I know his struggles are over! However, I will miss him, he was foremost promoter of the faith, whom I have known. Kerry

I was so sorry to hear that Charles had passed. He was always one of my best friends, even if Providence had kept us from seeing much of each other for the past several years. I will miss his grin, his sense of humor, his emails, but you and I can take comfort from the fact that he is now experiencing the joy and gladness of the Lord. When my dad died many years ago, Jim Brown shared something that someone told him when Paul (his dad) passed away. Here it is: "Your dad is with the Lord, and, if the Lord offered him the chance to return and be with you all again, he would say, 'I love them, but I love being here with You, Lord. I think that I'll just wait here with You and let them join us at Your time.'" My condolences and I am praying for you.
